DESTINATION

CAPE TOWN

Mother Nature surpassed herself when crafting the Mother City. Perched between the ocean and the mountain, with a national park at its heart, there is nowhere like Cape Town. Affectionately referred to as The Mother City, Cape Town is the oldest city in South Africa and has a cultural heritage spanning more than 300 years. It is in Cape Town that the Rainbow Nation really covers the spectrum. Between beautiful Cape Dutch homesteads, traditional dancers with painted faces performing in the streets, the smell of spicy Malay cooking and the taste of a well-made wine, this city will fill your senses.

Cape Town boasts the top tourism attractions in South Africa, all of which should appear on every visitors' itinerary all year round, namely Table Mountain, the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island, The penguins at Boulders Beach, Cape Point–The Cape of Good Hope. Cape Town, with its many diverse cultures, natural wonders, and breath-taking beauty is a master at capturing people's hearts.

THE STELLENBOSCH AND FRANSCHHOEK WINELANDS

The fertile green valleys of the Cape Winelands, origin of some of the world's most popular wines, is a must-see experience nearCape Town. Wine tasting, winemaking tours, excellent cuisine and historical landmarks collectively create an irresistible attraction in a region whichboasts some of the most majestic scenery in South Africa.

Most Cape wine estates are characterised by classic Cape Dutch-style buildings and vast vineyards with picturesque mountains as a backdrop. There is also a distinct European influence in the regions, thanks to the arrival of French Huguenot, Dutch and German settlers during the 16th century. You will have the opportunity to visit some of the best wine estates and some of the oldest vineyards in the Stellenbosch and Franschhoekarea. Indulge in award winning food and wines during your visit to this unique part of the Cape Winelands.

BIG 5 SAFARI EXPERIENCE

Rise at sunrise to head into the wild on your private African safari with your Field Guide and Tracker and discover a world usually only reserved for your screen during ‘Animal Planet’. You’ll find yourself in an environment that is as old as time, where the rhythm of nature is the onlyGovernor. Two safaris take place each day –in the morning and late afternoon (moving into the early evening). This is when the wildlife is most active, and the temperature more moderate.

Walking Safari -The bush takes on a completely different perspective when you are on foot. Each of your senses will be on full alert as you feel the grass and stones beneath your feet; touch the leathery leaves of trees you walk beneath; smell the musky scent of wild animals in the vicinity; taste the sweet grass of the veld; and hear the crack of a branch indicating you are not alone. Walks generally take place after breakfast and last approximately 1½to2 hours, depending on the fitness level of guests. In summer, due to the heat, walks may be incorporated into the morning game drive before heading back to thelodge for breakfast.

JOCK PRIVATE SAFARI LODGE

The concept of Jock Safari Lodge was born by the descendants of the Sir Percy Fitzpatrick and Niven Family. They used the funds of the trust of Sir Fitzpatrick, to build the lodge in the area close to where the history of Sir Percy Fitzpatrick & his dog Jock, took place. The Jock concession is the exact side profile of Jock the dog. In 1982 the Niven Family built a fence around the camp and that helped in preserving all the trees from destruction by visiting elephants.

The conservation-conscious Niven family also planted indigenous trees within the fenced area & they have grown to create an ambience under a canopy of shade different to the exposed wilderness just outside of the lodge Morning and evening drives are performed in covered 4x4 Landroversconducted by highly experienced rangers. Traversing through the reserve, the wildlife is sometimes staggering in its diversity. Enthralling sightings of elephants, a sea of buffalo horns rising from the grass as they lie resting in the growing heat as well as prides of lions, awaits one.

GOLF COURSE

CLOVELLY GOLF CLUB

The Clovelly Country Club’s golf course lies close to the suburb of Fish Hoek in the majestic SilvermineValley flowing down from the Table Mountain Range. Clovelly was designed to be secluded from the everyday noises of passing cars and local railway tracks and has breathtakingviews of the False Bay Coastline and the surrounding mountains and valleys. The course follows neither the links nor American tradition in design, and although quiteshort, it is unique and challenging.

ROYAL CAPE GOLF CLUB

Over more than 100 years the golf course at Royal Cape has evolved into what it is today, a classic parkland course that provides a fine test of golf as well as a wonderful playing experience. The course is in superb year round condition, and although on flat terrain, the playing of Royal Cape is subject to three of nature’s beguiling offerings: a near constant wind to challenge you, sweeping mountain views to charm you and water features to ensnare you. Royal Cape is without doubt one of the best and most challenging courses to play both in the Western Cape and the country. It is a course of championshipstature, playing to a par of 72, which has hosted the SA Open ten times as well as many other professional and top amateur events.

DE ZALZE GOLF CLUB

Renowned golf course architect, Peter Matkovich, designer of the De Zalze Golf Course, made the most of the stunning setting while placing a premium on accuracy. With magnificent mountain backdrops and stunning water features; this exquisite setting presents an exciting and interesting challenge to golfers of all standards. De Zalze Golf Course offers a fine mix of parkland holes, its main defences being the water features on several ofthe holes. The oak-lined BlaauwklippenRiver winds its way through the golf estate and comes into play at various intervals.

ERINVALE GOLF CLUB

ErinvaleGolf Club, nestled at the foothills of the Helderbergand Hottentot Holland mountains in Somerset West near Cape Town is one of South Africa’s great golfing challenges. Situated in a beautiful Western Cape wine region the breathtakingmountain and sea views are an integral part of this unforgettable golfing experience.

The Gary Player-designed golf course was host to the 1996 World Cup of Golf and has fast become renowned both locally and abroad. ErinvaleGolf Club’s beautifully manicured par 72 championship course boasts some of the country’s most challenging and spectacular holes. This isa course with two distinctly different nines. The demanding front nine meanders through park-like terrain and the back nine provides a contrasting challenge winding its way through the foothills of the mountains with panoramic views of False Bay. The signature hole is the par-four 17th hole, a great finishing hole that swoops downhill and is an extreme test of nerves playing from an elevated tee towards a long and narrow green.
