PT31: Himalayan Safari (Kinnur-Spiti-Ladakh)

Destination Covered: Delhi, Chandigarh, Shimla, Narkanda, SarahanSangla, Chitkul, Pass, Push, Kaza, Batal, Darcha ,Pang, Leh

DAY 1: DELHI

Arrive in Delhi. Check-in at hotel. Afternoon proceed for city tour of Old & New Delhi. Overnight in Delhi.

DAY 2: DELHI / CHANDIGARH / SHIMLA

Early morning transfer to airport to board flight for Chandigarh. Further drive from Chandigarh to Shimla. Check-in at hotel. Overnight in Shimla.

DAY 3: SHIMLA / NARKANDA / SARAHAN

Morning start Jeep safari from Shimla to Sarahan via Narkanda. Sarahan is a beautifully located township amidst picturesque mountains. Visit the Bhimakali Temple. In the Bhimkali Temple the main idol of the Goddess is about 200 years old. Check-in at Lodge. Overnight in Sarahan.

DAY 4: SARAHAN / SANGLA

Morning resume Jeep safari to reach Sangla. On arrival in Sangla, camp on the banks of Bapsa river. Sangla has houses on built on slopes one upon another overlooking the Kinner Kailash mountain peaks. Later visit the nearby Kamru Fort, now dedicated to Kamakshi Temple. Camp at Sangla for overnight.

DAY 5: SANGLA / CHITKUL PASS

Morning resume Jeep safari to reach Chitkul Pass. On reaching Chitkul Pass, enjoy the panoramic view of the sorrounding mountains. This is the opening to the Garhwal Himalayas. Post lunch, at Push, which is located close to the Tibetean border and lies in rain shadow region, just on the confluence of Spiti and Sutlej rivers. Push is also famous for grape plantations, wood carving and Deodar trees. Camp at Push for overnight.

DAY 6: PUSH / KAZA

Morning resume Jeep safari to reach Kaza, en-route visiting Tabo Monastery. Arrive Kaza in the evening. Check-in at Lodge. Overnight in Kaza.

DAY 7: KAZA / KIBBER / BATAL

Morning resume Jeep safari to reach Kyi Monastery, which treasures a collection of rare paintings and scriptures. Further drive to Kibber Village, which is known to be the highest located village in the world. Interact with the local villagers and visit one of their houses to see the simple but systematic construction. Post lunch, drive further to Batal. Check-in at Lodge. Overnight in Batal.

DAY 8: BATAL / DARCHA

Morning resume Jeep safari to reach Darcha, en-route halting just after Batal to photograph Singri Glacier. Also visit Khardong Monestary at Keylong. Arrive Darcha in the evening. Camp alongside the Bhaga River, in Darcha for overnight.

DAY 9: DARCHA / PANG

Morning resume Jeep safari to reach Pang en-route visiting Baralacha Pass (Baralacha meaning 'Pass with Crossroads'). This is a strategic criss-cross point where the roads from Zanskar, Ladakh, Spiti and Kahaul meet. Halt at Suraj Tal for taking pictures of the panoramic and magnificient peaks of the sorrounding mountain ranges. Arrive Pang in the evening. Camp at Pang for overnight.

DAY 10: PANG / LEH

Morning resume Jeep safari to reach Leh en-route halting at Tanglang La. Arrive Leh late in the afternoon. Check-in at hotel. Overnight in Leh.

DAY 11: LEH

Morning proceed for full day sightseeing in and around Leh, visiting Shankar Gompa, Shanti Stupa, Spituk, Stokh Palace, Shey - an old summer palace with 12 ft. statue of Buddha; Thiksey - the superbly located monastery on a hilltop overlooking village and Indus river; and Hemis Monastery - the richest and the largest monastery of the area. Evening return to hotel. Overnight in Leh.

DAY 12: LEH / DELHI

Time free till transfer to airport to board flight for Delhi.
